The workshop is designed for clinical staff and clinical service managers. Doctors and other healthcare professionals in training programmes also will benefit from participation in the workshop.
What you learn
Many people working in healthcare organizations don't have an accurate understanding of what’s involved in governance and assurance and aren’t sure what are their specific responsibilities related to clinical governance. Staff members often think that clinical governance is only for managers. Our one–day workshop explains practically what’s involved in governance and helps participants plan how to be actively involved in clinical governance components in their clinical services.
Each participant receives a copy of a 75-page book, Getting Clinical Governance Right to Benefit Patients, which includes reference material about clinical governance, and all of its components and that structures the work the participants carry out in the day to plan how to be more fully involved in each component of clinical governance.
Certificates of participation in the workshop are provided.

CLINICAL (HEALTHCARE) GOVERNANCE
WORKSHOP
CLINICAL GOVERNANCE LEADS
Who should attend
The workshop is for clinical staff who have been designated as Clinical Governance Leads in their clinical services in a healthcare organization. Clinical governance, quality improvement, patient safety, clinical audit and related managers and facilitators also will benefit from participating in the workshop.
What you learn
The clinical governance agenda for clinical services in healthcare organizations normally includes data provided from a number of sources representing different components of clinical governance, such as patient safety, quality improvement, clinical audit, implementation of current evidence, risk assessment, etc. The Clinical Governance Lead is expected to make sense of the information about the performance of a clinical service on all the governance components, and effectively lead discussion with key colleagues about changes needed for quality or patient safety improvement.
The workshop walks through the governance components, the types of data normally available relating to each component, and how to make the most effective use of the data to drive improvements in the quality or safety of patient care in the clinical service. It includes practical ways through which Clinical Governance Leads can and should be proactive leaders of accounting for and improving patient care in their services.
Each participant is provided with a copy of a 72–page book, Leading Clinical Governance, which includes several assessment tools and templates and other practical guidance.
Certificates of participation in the workshop are provided.
